Muller-Catoir has consistently produced Germany's finest dry Gewurztraminer, and the 1992 Haardter Burgergarten Gewurztraminer Auslese Trocken continues the extraordinary success this producer has enjoyed with this fickle varietal. A spectacularly exotic, lavishly-scented nose of cinnamon, cherries, lychees, and roses is followed by a wine with super-rich grapefruit and cherry-like flavors, and a decadent, overblown, huge, dry, blockbuster finish. This wine achieved 15.6% alcohol - naturally! Gewurztraminer does not get any bolder or fuller-bodied than this monster! Drink it with intensely-flavored dishes such as foie gras, or by itself.Muller-Catoir is Germany's most fashionable winemaker, enjoying a position among connoisseurs much like that of such illustrious French winemakers as Jean-Francois Coche-Dury, Comte Lafon, Michel Niellon, and Olivier and Leonard Humbrecht. Muller-Catoir's aromatic wines are undoubtedly super-ripe and multi-dimensional, as well as exceptionally complex. Most importantly, they are delicious! Not surprisingly, Muller-Catoir excelled in the 1992 vintage, with two of the firm's sweeter cuvees approaching perfection.A Terry Theise Estate Selection, imported by Milton S.
