The Livio Felluga 2018 Friuli Colli Orientali Friulano (closed with a screwcap) is a charming white wine with an accessible and easy style but with much of the creamy richness and texture that is characteristic of this excellent grape variety. The bouquet produces pear, apple and ripe peach. There are subtle aromas of toasted almond, saffron and a touch of crushed rock or oyster shell. This lovely white would pair with a Sicilian pasta made with cubed swordfish, fried eggplant and fresh mint.

The 2017 Friuli Colli Orientali Friulano is a well-priced, accessible and versatile wine, but don't underestimate its understated sophistication. You get a very pure and direct interpretation of Friulano, one of Italy's most distinctive white grapes, with generous aromas of stone fruit, melon, saffron and pear. This is a lean-bodied wine, but there is enough inner fiber and substance to keep the wine from ever feeling too thin or short. In fact, the intensity is just right.

Luminous and bright, the 2014 Friuli Colli Orientali Friulano (in a screw cap bottle) shows pretty aromatics detailed with white rose, citrus, pear, Golden Delicious apple and wild sage. The 2014 vintage was a difficult one and many of the wines feel watery in the mouth. Indeed, this wine does not offer the creamy textural richness that you get in classic vintages. The wine makes for an easy and honest drink, nonetheless.

Luminous and bright, the 2012 Friuli Colli Orientali Friulano is a soft and silky expression with a cheerful dose of the smoky mineral notes that often accompany this popular indigenous grape from northeast Italy. Behind that dusty veil of crushed stone are fuller tones of stone fruit and cantaloupe melon. Drink: 2014-2016. All these wines are imported to the United States with the exception of the Illivio white blend. No surprise, Livio Felluga has produced another knock-out collection of new vintages.
