In the mid- to late 1970s, this was one of my favorite vintages of Lascombes. It has begun to tire badly, taking on a brown/rust color and losing some of its supple, intense fruitiness. This elegantly wrought wine still retains some vestiges of its complex, spicy, earthy, ripe plummy bouquet and soft, rich, yet fading, flavors. Anticipated maturity: Now. Last tasted, 3/89.
